Eupe Corporation Berhad Chairman Datuk Tan Hiang Joo today announced he would be stepping down from the role, as well as a Director of the Eupe Board, effective 27th April 2023.

The Chairman’s role will be taken over by Mr Alfian Bin Tan Sri Mohamed Basir, who is currently an Independent, Non-Executive Director of the company.

“Renewal is an important part of any organisation’s strategy.” Datuk Tan said.

“I have had the privilege of being Board Chairman during what has been a transformative time for the Eupe Group.

“Its expansion strategy into KL is continuing to gather momentum with the value of company’s project pipeline more than doubling over the last four years.

“The past few years have been particularly challenging, as well as rewarding, as the company successfully navigated its way through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I believe I am leaving the company in a strong position, at a time when it is consolidating recent gains into a trajectory of sustainable growth, and I’m very sure that Encik Alfian will fill the role of Chairman very capably.”

Datuk Tan Hiang Joo was first appointed to the Eupe Board in 1997. He became Board Chairman in 2018 and has also chaired the Board’s Remuneration Committee.

Eupe’s Group Managing Director, Dato’ Beh Huck Lee said Datuk Tan’s contribution to the Board was deeply appreciated.

“As a practicing lawyer, Datuk Tan has consistently shared his wealth of experience and expertise with our Board and senior management through his insightful advice and oversight. He has provided an important focus of consistency and stability over a period when the Group has embarked on a strategic change in direction with its entry into the KL property market. Datuk Tan’s deep understanding of the intricacies of the business world has also enabled him to highlight to us industry trends and emerging opportunities.”

Encik Alfian was appointed as an Independent Non- Executive Director of the Company in 2018. He is also a member of the Risk Management and Audit Committee.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a Member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants (MIA) and began his career in 1998 at Ernst & Young, Kuala Lumpur, specialising in the financial institutions sector, in particularly managing financial audits. He has provided ICT consultancy services, as well as being involved in the telecommunications industry in Malaysia and Cambodia and offshore support services for the oil and gas industry.

Encik Alfianis is also Chairman and Independent Non-Executive Director of Willowglen MSC Berhad.
